Now that you know what craft you are going to center your business on, it is time to start getting your product out there on the market for the world to see.

There are many ways that you can market your product, both offline and online.  Here are just a few:

Offline

  • Attend any craft shows in your area.  This is a great way to network with other crafters, and to get your product in front of your market.  Hand out business cards, and make sure you set up a giveaway – even if it is just something small – to get names and contact information from people.  You can keep this information in a book, or even better, set up an email newsletter through your website.
  • Ask local businesses if they would be interested in having some of your products in their stores to sell, either on a consignment basis, or some kind of rental agreement that you can come up with.  You would be surprised how many might be looking for something extra to offer their customers – and you won’t know unless you ask!
  • Get custom decals on your vehicle – with your contact information, and website address if you have one.

There are tons of ideas out there for selling a craft!  A great place to go and do your research is at a site called Etsy.  (This is a site we will be talking about a little later on when we are searching for places to sell our craft).

Go to Etsy.com, and just start browsing around at the many different crafts that are being sold.  You will get an idea of what is in demand, and what you might enjoy trying.

Marie PughWorking from home is everyone’s dream – and to be doing something you truly enjoy while making money from it is the ultimate dream.

But, how realistic is it to believe that you can actually make money from doing something you love, such as sewing, knitting, making jewelry, painting or any of the many other craft hobbies that people have?  While it may not be realistic to think that you will be making a full time income from it right away, there is nothing stopping you from setting up a business and starting to build it up to a point that you are living very comfortably from it while you are still working your other job.

Earning a full time income from your craft is very possible, but it will take time – and persistence.  It wouldn’t be advisable to give up a paying job that you already have to go into your craft business right away, but if you continue to work while setting up the foundation of your business, you will eventually see the rewards for your effort. » Read more: Job Opportunities: Turning Your Craft Into A Business – Part One
